This tree ends with my grandmother, Bessie Kelly Miller.

Jemima Kelly came from Alabama to Ponotoc County,Ms.,
and then to Banner, Calhoun County, sometime before the 1870
census. It is believed that Jemima was never married, and her
children had different fathers.
On the 1870 census, her son, Thomas and his family were
living with her, and there was a Mary Kelly, age about 70, living
with her as well. I believe this to be her mother.
I've been told that Jemima died about 1875, and since I
did not find Mary Kelly listed on the 1880 census, I believe she
must have died sometime between 1870 and 1880.
Jemima is buried at Spring Creek Cemt., laying beside her is
another stone with the name Marg Kelly b/1863, how this person is
related is unknown.
Almost everyone buried at Spring Creek is descended from
Jemima or related by marriage.

John Kelly was shot in the foot, while serving in the Civil
War. The story is that he would'nt let the Yankee doctors tend to
his injuries, and as a result he lost his whole leg. He was later known
as Pegleg John.
John was one of the founding fathers of Banner Ms., and he
donated the land that became Spring Creek Church and Cemt., land.
